GROW with purpose

what we

At Cedo, our ambition is to do business in the most sustainable way possible. As a business that both recycles and converts plastics into a range of affordable and innovative household product solutions, it is important for us to share our approach to both circularity and sustainability.

Our business philosophy is embodied in our Grow with Purpose plan, and is built on a series of social and environmental commitments contained under three pillars: People, Planet and Products. The plan, which has been created with input from colleagues across our business, recognises that economic growth can only be delivered by valued people and communities, high quality products for our customers, and by helping to ensure a healthy planet for future generations.

Protecting the Environment and Reducing
our Impact on the World

At Cedo, we are committed to limiting our environmental impact as much as possible.

As part of our long-term ambition to become Net Zero, our near-term aim is to reduce our Scope 1 and 2 Greenhouse Gas Emissions within our business by 2025.

To support this, we have programmes in place to reduce the amount of energy we consume in our direct operations, procure renewable energy wherever available, as well as continually striving to reduce waste in our business. Since the introduction of these initiatives in 2019 (baseline year), we have significantly reduced the amount of Greenhouse Gases directly generated within our manufacturing sites, recycling operations and offices (Scope 1 and 2) by 97%.

During 2024, Cedo completed a comprehensive Corporate Carbon Footprint across Scopes’ 1, 2 and 3, covering all relevant upstream and downstream value chain activities. As part of our Climate Action Strategy, we will use this data to identify our key value-chain emission hotspots, calculate reduction targets in accordance with science-based methodology, and refine our near and long-term GHG roadmap.

As part of our sustainability commitment to reduce the amount of Greenhouse Gas emissions resulting from our business activities, Cedo has joined the Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi).

Our commitment to establishing a near-term science-based emission target is now publicly available on the SBTi website to view (see link Companies taking action - Science Based Targets). This formally asserts our pledge to help protect the environment and reduce the impact on the world.

Being both a major recycler of waste flexible plastic film and a manufacturer of waste collection sacks, food wraps and films, Cedo takes stewardship of natural resources very seriously.

This includes ensuring that we not only minimise the amount of water we use in our operations through recirculation, but also committing to protecting the marine ecosystem by participating in Operation Clean Sweep, which aims to achieve ‘zero pellet loss’ in manufacturing. For more information on Operational Clean Sweep, please visit www.opcleansweep.eu

Cedo also recognises that our supplier partners are key to achieving success in our commitment to doing business in the most sustainably way. We work collaboratively with our suppliers to ensure we remain aligned and transparent in meeting our environmental, social and governance standards as laid down in our Supplier Code of Conduct.

our commitments

All of our environmental initiatives are based on our planet commitments:

We will reduce our Scope 1 and 2 Greenhouse Gas Emissions within our business by 2025, as a part of our ambition to become Net Zero.

Our manufacturing operations are energy intensive and is the major source of carbon emissions in our business. We will optimise energy efficiency throughout our facilities, and switch to using renewable energy across our business wherever possible.

We will improve our stewardship of water.

We will ensure that our stewardship is enhanced with clear monitoring and improvement plans. Reducing the overall water consumption in our operations. All sites will become signatories to Operation Clean Sweep.

We will purchase from suppliers who meet our ethical, environmental and social standards.

We will work with our supplier base to ensure we are fully aligned on the ethical environmental and social standards we expect of them and that they have improvement plans in place where necessary.

Products

Products – Leading in Recycling and the use of Recycled Materials

As the industry leader in the recycling of flexible plastic packaging film waste from households, trade and industry, one of our key commitments is to maximise the use of recycled materials in our products.

Optimising raw material usage and maximising the amount of recycled plastics has helped Cedo to move away from a linear business model to a more circular approach. By working collaboratively with our partners and through our research & development, we have reduced our reliance on fossil fuel based virgin plastics and ensured better overall resource and product stewardship.

Our commitment to reusing waste plastic film from multiple streams is demonstrated in the range of sustainable products we offer, which are designed to reduce environmental impact and enhance circularity. In addition to our Good Karma Brand, Cedo are leaders in developing sustainable based private label solutions using recycled plastic film from household, commercial, and ocean-bound sources, as well as from social schemes helping to support impoverished communities. As members of various accredited environmental label schemes, for example Blue Angel ®, Cedo is able to support your brand development of sustainable products, and partner in closed loop circularity solutions.

We continue to work hard to design and develop new sustainable products, packaging solutions and in-house processes in accordance with our customer requirements, supporting their essential need to keep their homes and offices clean, safe and tidy, whilst making better environmental choices.

Our commitments

Our product and packaging design philosophy is based on the following product commitments:

We aim to use only recycled, recyclable or sustainable packaging for our products.

We will focus not just on the design of our products, but their packaging – ensuring it is always made from materials that are recycled, recyclable or come from a sustainable resource.

We will aim to reduce the amount of plastic used in our products and increase recycled content.

We will focus not just on the design of our products, but their packaging – ensuring it is always made from materials that are recycled, recyclable or come from a sustainable resource.
